Field Trip!

We had a wonderful day Friday on our 1st grade field trip to Shreveport. We had lots of awesome parent helpers and we had a lot of happy kiddos. The kids were excited about getting to ride on the bus all the way to Shreveport!

When we first got there, we went to Air-U, where the kids got to jump on trampolines for almost 2 hours. They were worn out by lunch time!

When our time was up at Air-U we loaded back up and drove about 10 minutes down the road to the Norton Art Gallery. We could have easily spent another hour at this place, but we enjoyed what we did get to see here. Our class began outside where we walked around their beautiful gardens, and then ended our tour inside looking at art, old guns, and China dolls. The students were commended by the people who work at the museum on the way they acted while they were there. I'm so proud of all of our first graders and the way they represented our school.

And this is a sign that the field trip was successful...

Thank you, parents, for your help with everything!

GT day with Ms. Hensley

Once a month, Ms. Hensley (who is our gifted and talented teacher) comes into our classroom and challenges our students to use some outside the box and creative thinking. Last week, we discussed sky scrapers, and then the students were given materials to try and see how tall they could make their own sky scraper. They were only given a marshmallow, uncooked spaghetti, yarn, and tape. I loved seeing their minds hard at work trying to decide how they wanted to build their sky scraper. Here's how it went!

They all worked SO hard, but in the end, Leland had the tallest sky scraper of over a foot tall!
